Kaipo enlisted in the United States Air Force in January 2000 at the age of 18 and retired 20 years later, in February 2020. He initially started off as an aerospace ground equipment mechanic on the flight line and then transitioned to a contract specialist.

Kaipo was fortunate enough to travel throughout the United States and other countries, including Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Qatar, and Japan. Kaipo was initially rated 90% out of the gate, and he strongly felt items were not rated properly. He logged into va.gov and submitted the required documentation for a reevaluation, but was denied not once but twice. Frustrated with the system, Kaipo decided to seek professional assistance and was immediately awarded 100% P&T.

The knowledge he’s gained throughout the process and his dedication to working with veterans to obtain the rating they deserve are the reasons Kaipo joined the J4V team.
